It takes just five minutes for an employer to request a Disclosure, and you normally receive your certificate within 48 hours. We offer Basic, Standard and Enhanced Disclosures. It's quick, easy and affordable.
DBS check applicants must be 16 or over.
The time it takes to process a DBS check depends on, however typically a DBS check is completed within 48 hours:
- The level of check
- If the details given for the check are correct
- What police force needs to be involved in the check
A Basic Disclosure is the only criminal record check available to individuals and is requested through Disclosure Scotland (the DBS do not provide a same level Disclosure).
It checks the Police National Computer and provides information about any unspent (recent / serious) criminal convictions. It is available to anyone, including individuals and the self-employed.
Individuals can use a Basic Disclosure to provide details on their criminal record, or lack thereof, to any third party.
This could be to:
- Demonstrate their suitability to a prospective employer
- Apply for licences, such as if they are looking to sell alcohol
- Apply for visas if they are travelling overseas
Standard Disclosures include convictions, spent and unspent, cautions, reprimands and warnings in England and Wales held on the Police National Computer. The most relevant convictions in Scotland and Northern Ireland may also be included.
These are only available to organisations whose professions, offices, employments, work and occupations are listed in the
Exceptions Order to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
It’s important to note that Standard Disclosures no longer include a check of the old or new Barred Lists from 12th October 2009.
Therefore if the position includes working with volunteering with children or vulnerable adults, you may now be entitled to an Enhanced Disclosure.
Enhanced Check (ISA first check included )
An Enhanced Disclosure is the same as the standard check plus any additional information held by local police.
These are for posts involving a far greater degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults. In general, the type of work involves
regularly caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of such people. Examples include a teacher, nursery worker or care
Enhanced Disclosures are also issued for certain statutory purposes such as gaming and lottery licences.
You have to be eligible under the Exceptions Order to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 to receive an Enhanced
